The Shores Restaurant at La Jolla Shores Hotel has launched "Aloha Thursdays," a weekly Hawaiian-themed evening every Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m.

The event features live island-style music, tropical cocktails, specialty wines and beers, and a special menu of pupus (Hawaiian appetizers) served on the restaurant's open-air oceanfront patio. Guests who show up in Hawaiian attire get their first Mai Tide cocktail half off, according to the restaurant's happenings page.

Fox 5 San Diego first reported on the event on Aug. 1, describing it as a "limited-time experience" running Thursday evenings throughout the summer. Ranch & Coast Magazine's Fall 2026 edition, published Thursday, Sept. 3, described Aloha Thursdays as extending "island-inspired summer vibes" into the fall season. The restaurant's website lists the event without a stated end date.

Three signature dishes anchor the Aloha Thursdays menu: Huli Huli Wings with huli huli sauce and spicy mayo; Lava Poke with ahi tuna, morita chili crisp, avocado, crispy rice cracker and nori; and Charred Miso Shrimp with grilled pineapple, cabbage slaw and wela island sauce. The restaurant's full dinner menu also remains available during the event, according to Fox 5.

The centerpiece drink is the Mai Tide. It blends cane rum, curaçao, orgeat, strawberry, lime and a dark rum float, topped with coconut orange cream foam.

The beachside restaurant sits at 8110 Camino Del Oro in La Jolla, inside La Jolla Shores Hotel. The hotel's dining page describes the venue as a family-friendly oceanfront spot open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
