A new gallery specializing in contemporary Asian art opens Friday, Oct. 2, on Ivanhoe Avenue in La Jolla.

The debut of Lisa Flowers Contemporary Asia, at 7910 Ivanhoe Ave., anchors the La Jolla Village Merchants Association's (LJVMA) October First Friday Art Walk. The free, self-guided walk runs from 4 to 7 p.m. across the Village, and this month's theme is "SPIRITS," with galleries and businesses each putting their own spin on the concept, the association said.

The route stretches across several blocks and venues. At Brockton Villa, one of La Jolla's original beach cottages at 1235 Coast Blvd. overlooking La Jolla Cove, Jewels of the Cove will present a curated exhibition for the evening. Oil painter Krista Schumacher will unveil a new collection and host a live floral art experience at her gallery inside Pacific Sotheby's at 1111 Prospect St. Schumacher's gallery earned a first-place Best of San Diego award for art galleries in 2026, according to her website.

Pop-up artists will set up at Unscripted Spaces, 7730 Girard Ave., alongside live entertainment and refreshments at stops throughout the route.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Visitors can also register in advance on the LJVMA's Art Walk page to receive a digital map and plan a route. Parking in La Jolla Village is $5 during the event.

The monthly Art Walk has historically involved more than 20 galleries and local businesses, according to the association. Past themes have included Pride, Wellness and Gratitude.
