San Diego County opened 180 additional vote centers Saturday, Oct. 31, bringing the countywide total to 221 locations ahead of Tuesday's general election, NBC San Diego reported.

La Jolla voters have five nearby options. The La Jolla Recreation Center auditorium at 615 Prospect St. has been open since Oct. 24, when the first 41 centers launched, according to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters. Four UCSD locations opened Saturday: the Nuevo East Exchange Building at 4067 Miramar St., Eleanor Roosevelt College's Middle Earth at 9906 Scholars Dr. N., the Price Center Bear and Red Shoe Room at 9500 Gilman Dr. and the Pepper Canyon West Rya Building at 9620 Gilman Dr.

Voters can cast a ballot at any vote center in the county, regardless of home address.

Hours and deadlines

All 221 centers are open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., NBC San Diego reported. On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, all vote centers, official ballot drop boxes and the Registrar of Voters office will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

That 8 p.m. cutoff is firm. Ballots dropped at a vote center or official drop box must arrive by then. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3, and the Registrar must receive them no later than seven days after Election Day.

Ballots can also be returned by mail or at any of the Registrar's official drop boxes around the county.

What's on the ballot

Three measures face San Diego County voters, according to Fox 5 San Diego.

Measure M, a $3.5 billion San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) bond, would fund school repairs and upgrades. The district says the measure would not raise property tax rates because new bonds would replace expiring ones. It applies only to residents within SDUSD boundaries and needs at least 55% to pass.

Measure B would impose a half-cent sales tax, excluding groceries and prescription drugs, that the ballot language estimates would raise $400 million to $450 million a year for healthcare, public safety and Tijuana River Valley sewage cleanup.

Measure A would amend the county charter to create an Independent Ethics Commission and new oversight roles, and would extend county supervisors' term limits from two terms to three, allowing up to 12 years in office.
